If I look at the fault code it indicates this happened 1 time on ? Lastly, should I clear this fault and retry for the lights to see if the fault reoccurs? if I cleared the fault would that be acting as a switch to possible allow the lights to be active assuming the short happened because I was jerking the panel around? if the fault came back then I need to start looking very closely at the wires. I know a smallest nick can cause a short but wondering also if the connector could be damaged? First look yesterday I did not see anything obvious in the two wires but I will check again. With this error could I have damaged the wires inside the nest? or possibly nicked a wire in the 8 inches with the plastic panel. For what it is worth the two wires running from the light connector are only about 8 inches long and disappear into a tightly bundled nest of wires against the firewall. A few weeks ago I noticed the footwells were not working so just having received my Vagcom I ran a scan last night and saw the error code below. The last time (3 times I pulled the panel) I know the driver side footwell light was on as the panel was laying down. I didn't have vcds before, I'm still fairly new at using it now that i have it. It helped for a short while but now i'm getting the same codes again. I replaced the pre inlet map sensor a few months ago. So my s4 has been acting up for a while now.
